Epidemiologist 3 - Behavior Health Epidemiologist

About the Position

Reporting to the State Epidemiologist for Non-Infectious Conditions, the Behavior Health Epidemiologist provides epidemiologic expertise, leadership and technical support to Department of Health (DOH) and other state and local agency staff on non-infectious conditions, including maternal and child health, chronic diseases, injury, and environmental health. Specifically, the position will act independently supporting the Healthy Youth Survey, act as agency lead on behavioral health, and consult with the Washington Tracking Network team.

The incumbent will act as lead investigator in initiating and directing research and surveillance to identify causes of morbidity and mortality, including cluster investigations. Additionally, this position will conduct literature reviews to identify evidence-based best practices, present seminars to other health professionals, prepare reports and manuscripts for the agency's use and for publication in professional journals, and prepare research grant applications on public health priorities.

This is a full-time permanent Epidemiologist 3 (Epi 3) within the Office of the Secretary – Office of the State Health Officer.  This recruitment may be used to fill other Epidemiologist 3 positions within the unit.
